Ingredients
- 2 - 1 pound ahi tuna steaks
- 1 teaspoon anise seeds
- 2 teaspoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Olive oil
Preparation
Step 1
Place the anise seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, and salt in a mortar pestle and crush until you have a coarse spice mixture.
Step 2
Coat each side of the tuna steaks generously in the spice rub.
Step 3
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large cast iron pan over high heat. When the oil begins to smoke, add the tuna steaks and sear 2-3 minutes a side until the spices are toasty and brown.
Step 4
Slice the tuna and serve immediately over a bed of potato salad with summer bean salad on the side.
