Ingredients
- 4 cups thawed frozen kataifi
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) ball fresh buffalo mozzarella, thinly sliced
- ½ cup saffron syrup (see recipe below)
Preparation
Step 1
Put the kataifi in a bowl and comb through it with your fingers.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a stainless steel or cast-iron skillet over low heat. Add the kataifi, spreading it out evenly and patting it down in the skillet.
Step 3
Sprinkle with the sugar and arrange the mozzarella slices on top.
Step 4
Cook until the cheese melts and the bottom is golden brown, 10-15 minutes.
Step 5
Remove from the heat. Invert onto a plate, drizzle with the saffron syrup, and cut into wedges.
